Gaborone United captain Edwin Olerile says that they cannot afford to relax when they meet struggling FC Satmos in the second leg of Mascom Top 8 at Molepolole Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
This is despite the fact that his side is leading 3-0 from the first leg which was played last weekend in Selebi-Phikwe.
“We know that some people would think that since we scored three goals we’ll sit back and defend. Football is an unpredictable game so we need to go there and treat the second leg like a new ball game. We cannot afford to relax because we need this cup for our supporters,” says Olerile.
He pointed out that they will continue to capitalize on the weaknesses they picked up in the first leg. “We know that they’re struggling in some areas and all we need to do is to work on those weaknesses. The wins we’ve registered in the past days have motivated us to go for more. We’re hungrier now and that’s what we needed,” he added.
Gaborone United scored their first leg goals through Ronald Chikomo, new Namibian acquisition Benson Shilongo and Powell Abednico.
Meanwhile, Satmos goalkeeper Kagiso Tshelametse believes that all is not lost.
“We need to come with a clean mind because it’s not like GU outclassed us in the first leg. We need to believe in ourselves. The good thing is that the pressure is on our opponents so we can go out there and enjoy ourselves,” says Tshelametse.
Kick off is scheduled for 3.45pm.
