Botswana Premier League referees continued to raise their stars this past weekend in Africa.
It was not the first time, though, that Botswana referees officiated in tough assignments this year in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
On Saturday, a team of Joshua Bondo, Goamogetse Godisamang, Meshack Medupi and Lekgotla Johannes were in Cameroon for the Cameroon versus Democratic Republic of Congo.
The pair, like their African counterparts, were on CAF assignment. They were selected by the CAF’s referees committee based on grading.
The grading is three fold, and all of the four are in the elite group of CAF. From history this year, Bondo has done the Nigeria versus Kenya encounter. He has also officiated Burkina Faso.
Although authorities could not be drawn into whether Botswana will have their first referees at an AFCON in 2015 it is very clear that the country’s whistle-men are making strides.
