Log Leaders Township Rollers confront their nearest rivals BMC in a top-of-the-table beMOBILE Premier League clash at Molepolole Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It is a game which is expected to attract a bumper crowd considering that both sides have been on a roll since the League kicked off. Rollers and BMC are the only unbeaten sides after week 10.
Rollers lead the standings with 24 points while BMC come close with 22 points. Ahead of the clash, both coaches have lamented a number of injuries in their camp.
For sometime now, Rollers have been playing without their trusted central defenders Leutlwetse Tshireletso and Oscar Ncenga due to injuries.
But Rollers’ head coach Madinda Ndlovu has refused to use the injury situation as an excuse ahead of this crunch tie. “Injuries are worrisome, yes, but injuries are expected in a game of football. This is why we have a great pool of players to call on when the need arises,” Ndlovu said.
In the absence of the trusted duo, the Zimbabwean tactician has relied on little-known Bogosi Kaekwe and Simisane Mathumo. The new pairing has rewarded the technical team with some outstanding performances.
Speaking from their camp in Jwaneng, BMC head coach Chicco Nare warned that they are not going to compromise their style of play because they are coming up against the log leaders.
“We know that we’re going to face a very strong side but we’re not going to be intimidated. When the season began nobody gave us a chance to be where we are right now. We’ve been enjoying ourselves and we’re going to continue doing that irrespective of our opponents,” Nare said.
Just like the defending champions, BMC are faced with few injury problems but Nare is confident that they will be able to shrug them off in time for the clash. Strikers Boitshoko Zikhale, Sageby Sandaka and Nqobile Mpala have been on the sickbed in the past two weeks.
"We've a friendly match against Galaxy FC in Jwaneng this evening. We'll assess their injuries and map the way forward. I've no doubt those available will do the job," said Nare.
Another striker Kenanao Kgetholetsile has not trained with the squad for sometime due to national team duties. The match kicks off at 4pm.
