Algeria coach Christian Gourcuff has named a 23-man squad for the Fennec Foxes’ 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Lesotho next month.

Algeria will face the Southern Africans in Maseru on September 6 for their second Group J clash, having crushed the Seychelles 4-0 in their opening match.

Gourcuff’s side will camp in Pretoria, South Africa, ahead of the match.

The French manager has left out Mehdi Abeid (who is being allowed extra time to settle in at new club Panathinaikos), Rais Mbolhi, Djamel Mesbah and Essaid Belkalem, while recalling Baghdad Bounedjah, who has shown fine form for Tunisian side Etoile Sahel.

The Fennec Foxes will look to the likes of Riyad Mahrez, who has been in great form for Leicester City in the Premier League, Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani, Valencia winger Sofiane Feghouli and Porto playmaker Yacine Brahimi to inspire them to victory away to the ‘Crocodiles’
