The 2017/18 Mascom Top 8 Cup tournament was launched in Gaborone on Thursday.

The lucrative tournament was officially launched by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Communication, Mr Kabelo Ebineng.

This season’s champions will pocket P1.3 million and the tournament will be played between November 2017 and February 2018. The final will take place on 24 February 2018.

Jwaneng Galaxy are the defending champions having defeated Orapa United 4-3 in an enthralling final in Francistown last season.

Galaxy will kick off their title defence against Mochudi Centre Chiefs in the two-legged quarter-finals with the winner on aggregate advancing to the next round.

Township Rollers, who won this competition during the 2011/12 season, have been pitted against their rivals Botswana Defence Force (BDF) XI.

Two-time Mascom Top 8 Cup winners, Gaborone United will square off with Lobatse giants Extension Gunners.

Lastly, Security Systems will be making their debut appearance in this completion when they take on Orapa.
