Police XI head coach Sthandwa Mogwadi has explained why he dropped the team's senior players against Botswana Defence Force (BDF) XI last weekend.

The Jungle Kings secured a 2-1 win over BDF in a BTC Premiership match which was played at the Molepolole Sports Complex.

Tapiwa Gadibolae and Katlego Masole were relegated to the bench, while Betsho Puis and Mara Moloi were left out of the match day squad.

Mogwadi explained to 90 Plus Botswana that he was done with fielding names instead of players, who are ready to die for a result.

"Coming from that defeat against Sharps, I sat down and said to myself, I've been picking names, you sometimes in football when you pick name," he said.

" it will never reward you. But I said this time around am going to pick my young boys who are hungry, to show me what they have.

"The reason why Gama (Betsho Puis) did not play, Mahoota (Katlego Masole) and Tapiwa (Gadibolae) is because I told them, am not gonna field them," he added.

"But play these young boys who can get me the results."

The win left Police placed eighth on the league table with 11 points eight matches.
