The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has explained that why the Zebras were delayed in Gabon last week.

Botswana held the Panthers of Gabon to a goalless stalemate in an international friendly match in Franceville last week Tuesday.

The Zebras were scheduled to leave Gabon on Tuesday and arrive in Gaborone on Wednesday morning.

However, according to a statement from the BFA, the scheduled flight from Franceville to Libreville experienced mechanical problems and could not depart.

Two BTC Premiership matches involving Township Rollers, Orapa United, Sankoyo Bush Bucks and Gaborone United which were scheduled to be played this past weekend had to be postponed.

The games were played on Monday after Rollers, GU and Orapa players, who were part of the Zebras traveling squad arrived on Friday. BFA chief executive officer Mfolo Mfolo apologised for the inconvenience.

“The association tried everything in its powers to secure an alternative flight to enable the team to arrive earlier but to no avail,” he said.

Rollers and Orapa drew 2-2 at the Lobatse Sports Complex, while Sankoyo Bush Bucks stunned Gaborone United 3-2 at the Maun Sports Complex.
