Township Rollers defeated Botswana Defence Force XI 2-0 in a Mascom Top 8 Cup quarter-final, first-leg match at the National Stadium in Gaborone on Saturday afternoon.
The first half failed to produce any real fireworks with both teams squandering possession in the final third of the field with poor passing and bad decision making.
Consequently, chances on goal were at a bare minimum and the opening half ended 0-0.
The second half was a different affair as Rollers turned up the pressure and found the back of the net ten minutes after the restart thanks to a clinical finish from Jerome Ramatlhakwana, 1-0.
Rollers continued to pile on the pressure and doubled their lead just after the hour mark courtesy of a clinical strike by substitute Lemponye Tshireletso, 2-0.
BDF tried to find their way back into match, but were unable to break down a resolute Rollers defence.
The match ended 2-0 in favour of Rollers who take a significant advantage into the second leg of the quarterfinals on December 9.
