Gaborone United secured a 3-0 victory over Extension Gunners in a Mascom Top 8 Cup quarter-final first-leg match at the National Stadium on Monday night.
The second-leg encounter is scheduled to take place at the Lobatse Sports Complex on the 9th of December 2017.
Moya Goleele got off to the perfect start as they broke the deadlock 13 minutes into the encounter through Obonwe Maome.
The former Botswana youth international beat Gunners goalkeeper Katlego Mbise to make it 1-0 to GU, who were the home side.
Mapantsola tried to push for the equalizing goal, but the hosts stood firm at the back and the score was 1-0 to GU at the interval.
The most successful club in the history of the Top 8 Cup, GU, who have won the trophy twice - doubled their lead in the second-half.
It was GU development academy product Maome once again. The 23-year-old beat Mbise to make it 2-0 to GU much to the delight of the home fans.
GU’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Gunners was sealed by Dirang Moloi, who scored in the latter stages of the encounter.
Moya Goleele’s 23-year-old attacker Maome was deservedly named Man of the Match after inspiring his side to victory on the night.
