Orapa United secured a 1-0 win over Security Systems in a Mascom Top 8 Cup quarter-final second-leg match at the Itekeng Stadium on Friday evening.
As a result, the Ostriches advanced to this season’s Top 8 Cup semi-finals after winning the quarter-final tie 2-1 on aggregate, while Systems bowed out of the tournament.
The home side went into the encounter having grabbed an away goal in the first-leg match which ended in a 1-1 stalemate in Lobatse a fortnight ago.
The deadlock was broken in the first-half and it was Orapa, who scored much to the delight of the home crowd inside the stadium.
Former Township Rollers winger Kobamelo Kebaikanye beat Systems goalkeeper Karabo Gaolebale to make it 1-0 to Orapa.
The Ostriches, who won this tournament in 2016, contained Systems until the match referee blew the half-time whistle. Orapa were leading 1-0 at the interval.
Systems searched for the equalizing goal in the second-half, but they could not beat Orapa keeper Mosimanegape Robert.
Orapa held on to their slender lead and they ran out 1-0 winners over Systems, who were making their debut appearance in the Top 8 Cup competition.
Kebaikanye, who scored the only goal of the match, was named Man of the Match.
