Township Rollers head coach Nikola Kavazovic was happy with his charges’ performance against Botswana Defence Force (BDF) XI on Monday night.
Rollers edged out BDF 1-0 thanks to Mthokozisi Msomi’s second-half goal in a Mascom Top 8 Cup quarter-final second-leg match at the National Stadium.
As a result, Popa booked their place in this season’s semi-finals after winning the tie 3-0 on aggregate.
The Serbian trainer stated that after a difficult first-half, he made the changes in the second half that allowed his team to have better control of the ball.
"In the first half, we struggled to maintain possession of the ball, the build up from defence to midfield and attack was slow,” Zavazovic told Rollers’ official website.
“But we managed to keep a defensive shape that allowed us to maintain the score at 0-0, which was important for us. In the second half I made the substitutions.
“I wanted us to keep the ball more. Scoring was not a big priority then, but we are Township Rollers we always love to win, and we got the goal that secured the win.”
Rollers joined Gaborone United, Orapa United and the defending champions Jwaneng Galaxy in the semi-finals.
