Botswana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Mogakolodi Ngele is being courted by Cape Town City in the South African Premier Soccer League.
Latest media reports surrounding Ngele’s future indicate that City have joined their cross-city rivals, Ajax Cape Town, for the signature of one of Sundowns’ campaigners.
According to Soccer Laduma, Ajax had entered into talks with the Brazilians for the services of the Botswana international, as coach Muhsin Ertugral looks to beef up his squad for the second half of the 2017/18 season.
Ngele played his first game of the season at the end of 2017 as they lost 1-0 to Benni McCarthy’s men at home.
The substitute role came after Ngele received his Permanent Residence Permit papers which allowed ‘Downs to register him as a local player.
However, new information surfaced that a loan deal away from Chloorkop could materialise during the current January transfer window.
The website reports that City have now identified Ngele as a transfer target and it is believed that they could edge the Urban Warriors to the attacking midfielder’s signature, following Aubrey Ngoma’s transfer from City to Sundowns.
Despite arriving in Tshwane in 2015 from Platinum Stars, the former Uniao Flamengo Santos player is yet to establish himself as a regular under coach Pitso Mosimane, having spent a season on loan at Bidvest Wits last season.
