Orapa United secured a 1-0 win over Gaborone United in the 2017/18 Mascom Top 8 Cup semi-final first-leg match at the Itekeng Stadium on Friday night.
GU will host Orapa in the second-leg encounter at the National Stadium on Saturday, 3 February 2018.
The Ostriches should have broken the deadlock through Omaatla Kebatho in the 25th minute, but the forward missed a cross by an inch.
However, the Botswana international headed home Kealeboga Molebatsi's corner-kick to make it 1-0 to Orapa on the half-hour mark.
GU winger Kabelo Seakanyeng came very close to equalizing when he hit the crossbar from 18 yards line on the stroke of half-time.
The score was 1-0 to Orapa at the interval thanks to Kebatho's goal.
The hosts continued to launch attacks after the restart as they looked to double their lead, but the GU defence was looking solid.
Former Township Rollers winger Kobamelo Kebaikanye placed his shot just over the crossbar as the hosts continued to dominate.
GU goalkeeper Ookeditse Semelamela produced a fine save to deny Kebatho in the closing stages of the game and ultimately, Orapa won 1-0 on the night.
Orapa midfielder Thabang Mosige walked away with the Man of the Match award.
