Gaborone United head Zapata congratulated Orapa United on reaching the final of this season’s Mascom Top 8 Cup.
The Ostriches defeated Zapata’s Moya Goleele 4-1 in the semi-final second-leg clash which was played at the National Stadium in Gaborone on Saturday night.
The emphatic victory saw Orapa secure their place in the final after winning the semi-final tie 5-1 on aggregate with the Ostriches having won 1-0 in the first-leg encounter.
“Congratulations to Orapa United. They were so good tonight,” Zapata said after the enthralling encounter.
Kabelo Seakanyeng scored GU’s consolation goal from the spot-kick after Tumisang Orebonye had been goal fouled inside the Orapa box.
“They deserve to win. My players tried their best tonight,” the Argentine, who was hoping to guide his side to the Top 8 final first time since 2015, added.
“We will sit down with the chairman Okaile Rapula and try to plan for the league competition and future of the club.”
GU will now turn their attention to the BTC Premiership as they look to mount a serous challenge for the most coveted trophy in the country.
Moya Goleele are placed fourth on the league standings - 15 points behind log leaders Township Rollers, who will face Orapa in this season’s Top 8 Cup final.
