Jwaneng Galaxy captain Boitumelo Mafoko says they did everything they could to avoid a defeat against Costa Do Sol on Saturday.
The Galaxy of Stars were narrowly beaten 1-0 by the Mozambican side in the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first-leg match.
Costa Do Sol grabbed a late winning goal through Tisdell in an encounter which took place at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto in Maputo.
Former Botswana international Mafoko felt that they were unfortunate to concede very late against the hosts.
“We were technically good until the 88th minute,” Mafoko said after the game.
“We were playing as a team, well-structured team and with good players,” the experienced defender added.
“We did everything we could to avoid defeat. We hope to reverse the result in the reverse.”
Galaxy were making their debut appearance in the continental club competition and they will be looking to advance to the next round when they host Costa Do Sol next week.
The second-leg clash will be played at the Lobatse Sports Complex on Wednesday, the 21st of February 2018.
