Township Rollers’ Joel Mogorosi and Mthokozisi Msomi have been handed a combined 17-game suspension and P20,000 fine.
This punishment was handed down by the Botswana Football Association Disciplinary Committee for the players’ role in a brawl which broke out in last month’s match against TAFIC.
Mogorosi was given a ban of 10 games (because he was returning from an earlier suspension) and a P10,000 fine to be paid within 14 days. Msomi will be out for seven games and also has to pay a P10,000 fine.
The Rollers players attacked TAFIC defender Samuel Phiri after he assaulted their teammate Edwin Moalosi during a BPL match in January.
All three players were red carded at the time and suspended from local football. Phiri has been put on half salary at his club - and is awaiting his punishment from the DC - while the Rollers duo both lost a month’s salary as punishment from their club.
While the Rollers player missed Friday night’s league clash against Police XI at the start of their respective bans, they will both be available for the team’s midweek CAF Champions League clash away to Sudan’s Al Merrikh.
