Township Rollers head coach Nikola Kavazovic was left to rue his side’s missed chances against Botswana Defence Force (BDF) XI on Monday.
Matebele stunned Rollers 3-1 in a BTC Premiership match which was played at the University of Botswana (UB) Stadium in Gaborone.
Rashid Mandawa grabbed an impressive hat-trick for BDF, while Kaone Vanderwesthuizen netted Rollers’ consolation goal.
Kavazovic congratulated Matebele, who dominated the first-half and they were leading 3-1 at the interval.
"First of all, congratulations to BDF, they displayed experience and wisdom in the match, they attacked us in the first half and got the goals they needed to win,” he said on the club’s website.
“For us, we had many positives, we controlled the ball possession throughout the match. In the first half we were not going forward enough with our possession, while at the back we conceded.
“But in the second half we were positive, we attacked, we created chances but we did not score,” the Serbian tactician continued.
“I put out the best Rollers side we could have; the team that played in Sudan was mentally and physically tired.
“Some of the players who have not had enough game time this season played very well tonight.”
Rollers will now take on Orapa United in the 2017/18 Mascom Top 8 Cup final at the Francistown Sports Complex on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 15h30.
