Township Rollers captain Maano Ditshupo says they cannot afford to lose to Orapa United in the 2017/18 Mascom Top 8 Cup final at the Francistown Sports Complex on Saturday.
The central midfielder stated that after the disappointment of losing three finals in a row between 2014 and 2016, Popa are eager to win the Top 8.
“We came close when we lost the 2014 final to BDF XI on penalties; in 2015 we were leading Gaborone United 1-0 in the second half before they came back to win 2-1,” Ditshupp said on the club’s official website.
“In 2016 again we were leading Orapa 1-0 late on, they equalised and they went on to win in extra time. This time I believe we have learnt a lot from our past experience and for us this is a must win.
"Orapa is a good team that has done well against us in cup games, but we have also beaten them comfortably in the past (6-1 in 2014 and 4-1 in 2017 in league games). Orapa has just emerged as a team in the past few years,” he added.
“Rollers is a big club which has won trophies over many years. We cannot be intimidated by them or anyone else.
“We will respect them, but we are not seeking revenge; that would disturb our thinking, we are more driven by the hunger to win the cup.”
Kick-off between Rollers and Orapa is at 15h30.
