Orapa United striker Ronald Chikomo missed out on making a piece of Mascom Top 8 history when his side lost the final to Township Rollers on Saturday.
The Ostriches were beaten 4-2 at the Francistown Sports Complex, seeing Popa draw level with Gaborone United as the most successful club in the history of the competition.
Lemponye Tshireletso, Edwin Moalosi, Bogosi Nfila and Kaone Van der Westhuizen all found the back of the net for Rollers to put them 4-0 up within 65 minutes.
They allowed United to pull two goals back through Omaatla Kebatho and Gift Moyo, but the late strikes were no more than consolation for the vanquished side.
Chikomo was looking to draw level with Jwaneng Galaxy’s Tebogo Sembowa as the Mascom Top 8’s most successful player.
Sembowa has won the trophy four times - twice with Gaborone United and once each with Township Rollers and Galaxy.
Chikomo’s three winners medals came from his time with GU and Orapa two years ago, but he was unable to make it four after his side were outclassed by Popa.
