Township Rollers head coach Nikola Kavazovic is ecstatic after winning his first major trophy with the club.
Popa were crowned 2017/18 Mascom Top 8 Cup champions after defeating Orapa United 4-2 in an entertaining match at the Francistown Sports Complex on Saturday.
"I have coached in seven different countries and with this team I feel I have special players. This was a result of 8 months of sweat, blood and tears, we worked hard for this," Kavazovic said.
Rollers clinched the Top 8 Cup for the second time and they will now take on Tanzanian giants Young Africans in the 2018 CAF Champions League first round first-leg match in Dar Es Salaam on Tuesday.
"Winning this cup and knocking Al-Merreikh out of CAF Champions League are great achievements. We dominated the first half and did not allow them to play, and that was our intention according to their qualities, because Orapa is a good side," the Serbian added.
"And we knew we had to work hard to prevent them having the ball. At half time it was 2-0 and I told my players not to sit back and defend but to go for at least one more goal. We made it 3-0 and then brought out our beautiful bus; we defended; and played only on counter attack.
"Although we made it 4-0 they managed two goals but that is a story for another day. We won, so we are pleased and we will now prepare for the crucial Tanzania match."
The encounter between Rollers and Africans will be played at the Tanzania National Stadium on Tuesday.
