In the wake of their hard-fought 2-1 win away to Young Africans of Tanzania, Township Rollers have been dealt a huge blow.
Popa’s Mthokozisi Msomi has suffered a muscle strain injury in their CAF Champions League first round opening match against Yanga on Tuesday.
Although the Botswana Premier League giants are yet to confirm the seriousness of the injury, they said resting will help the attacker.
“Msomi unfortunately suffered a muscle strain by his thigh and knee joints on his left leg, and had to be substituted out in the 44th minute,” said the club in a statement.
“It was a muscular pain which obstructed him from walking or running. Our Team Medics treated the muscle pull, and now Msomi feels much better.
“Resting for some time will help relieve his muscle strain, nothing serious to worry.”
With coach Nikola Kavazovic turning his focus to the BTC Premiership match against Black Forest, he will hope to have Msomi ready for action on Sunday at UB Stadium.
