Township Rollers have returned to the summit of the BTC Premiership after claiming a 2-1 away win over Sankoyo Buch Bucks, while former leaders Jwaneng Galaxy were beaten 2-0 at home by Miscellaneous on Saturday afternoon.

Galaxy came into the day’s matches leading Popa on goal difference – the teams both had 49 points from 22 matches – but they succumbed at home to Miscellaneous, who scored through Moyenga Chakova and Master Masitara.

Rollers took full advantage and not only leapfrogged into first place, but also opened up a three-point advantage thanks to a 2-1 away win at Sankoyo Bush Bucks in Maun. Edwin Moalosi scored a brace for the champions, who may well look back at this weekend as the turning point in the title race.

In other results, Union Flamengo Santos won 1-0 away to BDF XI to boost their survival hopes, though Security Systems kept up an eight-point buffer by defeating TAFIC 1-0 at home, while Orapa United claimed the biggest win of the day by thumping Extension Gunners 3-0 thanks to a brace from Omaatla Kebatho and a strike by Lemogang Maswena.

Sunday will see three games to wrap up the round’s fixtures: Sharps Shooting Stars v Police XI, Black Forest v Gaborone United and Mochudi Centre Chiefs v Gilport Lions.
