Speaking after his side’s 1-0 loss in their opening Group A game of the CAF Champions League on Friday night, KCCA coach Mike Mutebi admits Township Rollers were just more effective than them in attack.

Despite having the lion’s share of possession throughout the match, KCCA were poor in the final third and often gave the ball away cheaply.

In the end a 36th minute goal from Lemponye Tshireletso separated the two the sides at the Botswana National stadium.

“It was a good game, but Rollers were just more effective,” said Mutebi.

“The few chances we created we couldn't score.

“The difference was that they scored, but we had more ball possession. They were more effective in front of goal, that was the difference.”

Despite the loss Mutebi was happy with his side’s showing on the night and praised his own club’s brand of attacking football.

“What was exciting was that it was end to end stuff. It was good football to watch,” added the KCCA coach.

“We played our attacking football and with discipline, but Rollers were more effective.

“We are not scared going forward because for the most part I am happy with the way we played against Rollers.”

KCCA are next in action in the Champions League on Tuesday, May 15 at home to Egypt’s Al Ahly.
