Security Systems have stated that they had a point to prove in the BTC Premiership during the 2017/18 Botswana Premier League (BPL) season.

The Alarm Boys retained their status in the BPL after defeating Orapa United 1-0 at the Lobatse Sports Complex in the final game of the season last week and they finished a point above the relegation zone.

They had an impressive debut season in the BPL during 2016/17 campaign finishing sixth on the BTC Premiership standings and they qualified for the 2018/19 Mascom Top 8 Cup.

Systems have since released the following statement:

A club statement read: “Congratulations are in order to the Alarm Boys for fighting for their lives to avoid the relegation axe that was so close to annihilating us to First Division South League and to Township Rollers for having clinched the league for three consecutive seasons.”

“This league was so exciting that the Champions and the relegated team Tafic had to be decided at the last game of the Premier league. This is good for the Sponsors and the game of football. However, we sympathize with Machimenyenga (TAFIC) for being the last team to exit the elite league. The northerners needed it more to have a representative in this prestigious league.”

“All the relegation threatened teams won their last games in Sankoyo, Alarm Boys and Tafic but it was too late for the Francistown based team to see the light of the day, not at our expense, we wanted it more to prove that it was not by default to have been promoted to this league a season ago.”

“We are here to compete and not add numbers and at the same time a learning curve. We extend our sincere gratitude to the technical team, the medics and all support staff but more importantly the supporters who stood by the team through its dark days to date.”

“Let me also thank the media for keeping the public up to date with the day to day affairs of the BPL and BTV for televising our league game only once in the entire season. We hope to see an improvement next season in so far as this matter is concerned. Ditrata we expect more interviews from RB 2 and Tiro on RB 1 respectively. We are not an isolated team but within reach like any other team in the Premier league.”
