Botswana Premier League (BPL) giants Township Rollers lost 3-0 to reigning South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend.
The international club friendly encounter was played in a close door friendly played at Phokeng outside Rustenburg, South Africa on Saturday.
The Blues, who are the reigning BPL champions, were doing well in matching the well established opponents early on.
However, from the moment a backline error allowed Sundowns to open the scoring account through Sibusiso Vilakazi, Masandawana would get two further goals from Ali Meza and Lucky Mohomi to secure the three goal advantage.
A Rollers statement read: “It was a fully deserved win for the hosts. But the three goal margin still did not give a proper reflection of a Rollers side who also created their own chances and spent most of the game matching a full strength Sundowns team.”
The two teams were using the game as preparation for their upcoming 2018 CAF Champions League group stage matches.
Rollers are scheduled to face Egyptian giants Al Ahly in a Group A match in Alexandria on July 17, while Sundowns are set to take on Togolese side AS Togo Port in Group C clash in Lome on the same day.
