Egyptian football powerhouse Al Ahly SC have arrived in Botswana ahead of their 2018 CAF Champions League Group A clash with Township Rollers FC.
The two teams will lock horns at the National Stadium in Gaborone on Saturday with Rollers seeking revenge after losing 3-0 to Al Ahly in Alexandria, Egypt almost two weeks ago.
Al Ahly’s head of delegation, Mr. Khalid Al-Darandli, who serves in the Al-Ahly board of directors as the club treasurer, spoke to Rollers’ website after his side touched down at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport on Tuesday.
“Botswana is a good country, personally it is my first time here but I have heard it is a well-organized country,” Al-Darandli said.
“We were impressed by Rollers also, they are a very good team that is why we are expecting a tough match. But we wish to win and go back with the three points.
“We have a very good coach now (Frenchman Patrice Carteron, appointed early last month, June 12 on a two year contract),” he added.
“After we made a poor start to the group stage, the new coach has helped us to pick up points and we hope we can continue to gain more points,” Al-Darandli said.
We face the Egyptian giants this weekend at home as we prepare ourselves to bounce back after two losses away in North Africa against Esperance (Tunis) and Al-Ahly (Egypt).
Rollers and Al Ahly are placed third, and second respectively on the Group A standings with three games left.
