The new 2018/19 Botswana Premier League season officially kicked off over the weekend with seven games taking place.

Six BTC Premiership matches took place on Saturday with Notwane beating Security Systems 2-1 at the Molepolole Sports Complex. Michael Pepukani and Lesego Lubinda netted for Notwane, while Gofaone Molapi scored for Systems.

Jwaneng Galaxy thumped a hapless Prisons XI side 5-0 at the Otse Stadium with Thero Setsile, Patrick Kaunda, Lebogang Ditsele, Gofaone Molapi and Gilbert Baruti all scoring.

The biggest game of the weekend was between Extension Gunners and Mochudi Centre Chiefs, who drew 3-3 at the Lobatse Sports Complex. Gunners striker Kenanao Kgetholetsile grabbed a hat-trick, while Unobatshi Mbaiwa (brace) and Bakang Leshona netted for Chiefs.

One match was played on Sunday with Sharps Shooting Stars stunning Gaborone United 3-1 at the Molepolole Sports Complex. Tshepo Malgas (brace) and Khumo Bogale netted for Sharps, while Obonwe Maome scored for GU.

Match day one will be wrapped up by encounter between Black Forest and defending champions Townshp Rollers at the Molepolole Sports Complex on Wednesday.
